holymoleculesbatman: Hydrogen bubbles on magnesium which is reacting with copper acetate to form magnesium acetate, copper, magnesium hydroxide and hydrogen gas. It’s a classic example of a displacement reaction where a more reactive metal replaces a less reactive one.
